Wedding Elopement: Why to Consider It
Updated: Nov 4
What is an elopement?
Elopement is a wedding with a very limited number of people with a few closest friends and & family members or without them. It's about celebrating your love story in an intimate and often adventurous way.
It can be done locally, in your own place or you can decide for a destination wedding elopement with a gorgeous backdrop.
The focus is usually on having an intimate ceremony in a stunning location with fantastic photo opportunities. Imagine a ceremony on top of a cliff, in mountains or on a beach during a romantic sunset.
Elopement wedding: why you may consider it
The wedding cost is directly dependant on the number of guests you invite. All you need is an officiant and a photographer/videographer. You don't have to pay for everyone's meals. Instead, you can move this budget into things which are more important to you.
If you (and/or your partner) are an introverted person and you are scared of the idea of being the centre attention for a large number of people you may be much more comfortable with an elopement wedding.
You have more opportunities for a beautiful location because it's easier to get to a difficultly accessible location without a large number of guests. There are no limits to your fantasy. Some couples decide to have an adventure trip to their ceremony place. This could be a hike through the jungle, a helicopter flight to the top of breathtaking cliffs or a romantic beach ceremony during sunset.
The current pandemic crisis
Given the current circumstances, you may just decide to elope now to get legally married and then to do a full wedding day later to celebrate it with everyone when it's possible again. I believe that this is a win-win for everyone and you don't have to be afraid of how long time you will be waiting to get married.
